Consulting Services
Bob Hartley & Associates assists executive management in the development, planning and governance of projects. This is achieved with reference to the project management philosophies documented in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK ®) ¹, other practice standards published by PMI, and A Guide to the Governance of Project Management published by APM ².
Specific focus areas include:
- Project Sponsorship - Do projects have a nominated sponsor who carries ownership of the business case and accountability for achieving business benefits, direction of the project manager and project governance?
- Portfolio Direction - Are programs and projects are aligned to strategy, and sequenced for implementation with requisite resources to deliver business benefits?
- Project Definition - Does the project concept have realistic estimates of benefits with defensible estimates of cost and schedule and support of stakeholders?
- Alignment of Stakeholders - Are structures and systems in place to engage with stakeholders to capture and respond to their needs?
- Project Management Effectiveness - Is there a project plan? Are project objectives and implementation strategy clear? Is all the work is defined? Are adequate resources available?
- Risk Management - Are strategies in place to identify sources of risk, assess impact and develop responses consistent with the risk appetite of the organisation?
- Project Leadership - Is there a defined leadership structure with clearly defined authorities and an appropriate decision making framework?
- Project Reporting - Is timely, relevant and reliable information available to monitor progress, assess progress versus plan and implement corrective action when appropriate?
